Central london Drum Lessons

My name is Adam and I’m a professional drummer with 14 years of experience.

I am taking on a limited number of students for 1-1 private tuition around Central London. I am fully DBS checked and will travel to your home or practice space. Please note, these lessons are home-visits only.

Things you need to know about having lessons at your home:

  • Learners need to have access to a drum kit for the lessons.

  • Electronic or acoustic drum kits are suitable.

  • Home lessons are appropriate for adults as well as for children.

About The Teacher
I have been teaching aspiring musicians and players for almost as long as I’ve been playing. Most recently, I was part of the teaching cohort at a high end independent music school in Cheshire, Aura Music Academy.

In my previous position, I had 20 regular weekly students ages 5-43. Within a year I helped students achieve several grades, over the Rockschool and Trinity syllabi. I have a 100% Pass rate for grade exams with 12 students achieving a minimum Merit in the 2021 academic year.

Since moving to London I am available for 1-1 private tuition around Central London.

About The Lessons
My teaching philosophy is based on a song-learning approach. The reason why we play the drums (most of the time), is so we can play songs, and play with others. Whether jamming along with music at home or performing with a live band, it is the very core of what we do. Therefore, I believe every lesson should include a song, whether this is something we are working towards playing, or simply a source of inspiration.

I strongly encourage a proper sense of technique, ergonomically optimised setup, and stick grip from the get-go; this helps a natural progression and reduces technical roadblocks that often can hold even the keenest learner.

Additionally, my lessons will also include sheet music and building a student’s ability to read notation. I recognise that all students learn differently, and even If the focus isn’t entirely on the notes on the paper, a good understanding of rhythmic notation provides a great visual aid and adds to a student’s abilities.

I have a proven history of success with both the Rockschool or Trinity Syllabi, if you or your child wish to take graded exams.

Enjoying end-of-term thank you gifts from Students
